Pastor Michael Edwards

I became pastor of May Memorial Church in September, 2011, when my family and I moved to the wonderful Powhatan community. My responsiblities include preaching, teaching, pastoral care, worship planning, and leading the church into living as God’s people.

I am a graduate of Bob Jones University (B.A., Religion and Music), Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.) and Columbia Presbyterian Theological Seminary (D.Min.). I am a native of Goldsboro, NC, and moved to Powhatan after serving Benson Baptist Church for eleven years.

I am married to Beverley, who is a Music Educator at Powhatan Middle School as well as a Church Musician (organist and choral director) at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Beverley and I have three wonderful daughters, Anna, a sophomore at Campbell University, Sophie, a senior at Powhatan High School and Laura, a seventh grader at Powhatan Middle School. My family has been embraced by the May Memorial family over the past ten years, and through their love we have seen an example of welcome and authentic community.

I enjoy reading, jogging, and coaching girls softball.
